Highland Park 17 yo (1999/2017) Full Volume doesn’t hold back when it conquers the stage. The Scottish maestros are behind this full-blast rock’n’roll release, but don’t be fooled: This whisky breaks conventions with more than just a three-chord song. Beginning with its maturation on classic ex-bourbon casks, it breaks with tradition and manages to prove that Highland Park are more than capable of using ex-sherry casks, exclusively. With a catchy riff, it introduces a wonderful soundscape of pear, fresh apples and cake. The verse brings a memorable symphony of creamy vanilla, tantillizing spices and fresh oak. The chorus is a creative mix of biscuits, acoustic notes of oak, and – the reminder that this is Highland Park – signature mild peat included. Five out of five stars!
