Finlaggan Islay Single Malt, Port Finished, 46%

Finlaggan Islay Single Malt Port Finished is a “small batch” of Finlaggan, and is from 2016. It is aged in both ex-bourbon and ex-port casks. Bottled at 46% vol, with a mature smoky flavor mixed with a wine sweetness.

On the island of Islay is Loch Finlaggan, a historic site. The islands of the loch, Eilean Mor (Big Island) and Eileen na Comhairle (Council Island) were chosen as the home of the Clan Donald and the Finlaggan Islands became the center of their rule and are referred to as the cradle of the Clan Donald. Today, a charity called “The Finlaggan Trust” maintains the site.

Tasting notes on Finlaggan Islay Single Malt Port Finished:
Smell: Smoky, medicinal peat with hints of red berries/grapes
Taste: Port sweetness, underlying smoke, raisins, pepper, leather, red berries.
Finish: Long lasting, smoky with wine sweetness.
