About Ezra Brooks 99 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Ezra Brooks 99 Proof is in many ways a classic good bourbon, which is aged the old-fashioned way in new charred American oak barrels, and made on Lux Row’s rye bourbon mash bill, consisting of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley.

However, this whiskey has a few characteristics that distinguish it in terms of taste from other bourbons – firstly, it is a so-called sour mash bourbon. This definitely does not mean that the bourbon is sour, but rather that after distillation you pour some of the remaining residue into the next batch – very similar to sourdough bread. The effect of the Sour Mash technique is rather difficult to describe precisely, as it varies greatly from whiskey to whiskey – but there is no doubt that it has an effect.

Another distinctive feature is that Ezra Brooks is charcoal filtered after distillation, which results in a characteristically mild taste.

Ezra Brooks 99 Bourbon is, as the name suggests, bottled at 99 American proof – which corresponds to 49.5% alcohol.
