Jamaica 5 yo, Rum Nation – Cask Strength (Oloroso Sherry), 57.84%

Jamaica Rum Nation Cask Strength Sherry is an intense, aromatic and quite ester-filled Jamaican pot still rum – with a twist! A slow 5-year maturation process in a continental climate in Oloroso sherry casks which previously contained Scottish Highland malt whisky. The cool climate and the delicate influence of the casks have left the Jamaican rum’s powerful base flavor intact, but at the same time have infused it with a rich and sweet touch.

Tasting notes on Jamaica Rum Nation Cask Strength Sherry

In the nose, you meet all the funky characteristics of Jamaican rum – wood glue and wax, fermented fruits and wheat flour.

In the taste, the influence of the sherry cask emerges – in the form of a fruity, dry note that is incredibly well integrated into the balsamic character of the Jamaican rum. Here you will also find a dark taste of brown sugar, licorice root, camphor and cinnamon. The aftertaste is long-lasting, warm, quite spicy, and has notes of white pepper, as well as a certain grassy note. Powerful, full-bodied and funky – just like a Jamaican rum should be!

Smell: Funky – with fermented fruits, wheat flour and wood glue.
Taste: Nice integration of the sherry cask – with brown sugar, licorice root, camphor, cinnamon and vinous notes.
Finish: Long-lasting, warm and quite spicy – with notes of white pepper and freshly cut grass.
