Introduction to Naga
A distillery with passion for craft
Naga is an Indian craft distillery that beautifully blends ancient Asian traditions with modern distillation techniques. The distillery has established a reputation for delivering exceptional spirits crafted with reverence for ingredients, technique, and the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Located in Goa, India’s vibrant coastal state, Naga draws inspiration from the mythological serpent deities that are revered throughout Asian cultures, symbolizing transformation and rebirth – much like the alchemical process of distillation itself.
Why we have a soft spot for Naga
At Vault of Spirits, we appreciate distilleries that create something truly unique – both in flavor and identity. Naga distinguishes itself by incorporating indigenous botanicals and spices that have been treasured in Asian culinary and medicinal traditions for centuries.

The history behind Naga
Origins and development
Naga was founded in 2018 by a collective of spirits enthusiasts and entrepreneurs who saw an opportunity to create premium craft spirits in India’s emerging distillery scene. The founding vision was to craft spirits that would honor India’s rich botanical diversity while meeting international quality standards.
Starting with small-batch gin production, the distillery has grown steadily, gaining recognition both domestically and in select international markets for their distinctive approach and unwavering commitment to quality.
The people behind
The distillery is helmed by a diverse team of craft spirits experts, botanists, and cultural historians who share a deep passion for spirits and innovation. Master Distiller Rahul Mehra brings experience from prestigious distilleries across Scotland and Japan, while botanical expert Dr. Anjali Singh ensures that each ingredient reflects authentic regional flavors.
Each decision at Naga reflects their collective dedication to creating spirits that honor tradition while embracing innovation.
The craft and production
From raw materials to finished product
Production at Naga begins with carefully selected botanicals – many of which are locally sourced from sustainable farms across India. Their signature gin features over 20 botanicals, including traditional juniper alongside distinctly Asian ingredients like Himalayan juniper, cardamom, coriander, and rare mountain herbs.
Distillation takes place in custom-designed copper pot stills, which the team has named after mythological Naga serpents. These stills allow for precise control over the extraction of delicate flavors and aromas.
Maturation and aging
While their gin requires no aging, Naga has recently begun experimenting with barrel-aged expressions that rest in a variety of casks, including ex-bourbon barrels and casks that previously held Indian port-style wines. This experimentation allows the spirits to develop depth, complexity, and balance while taking on unique characteristics from the wood.
Limited releases often feature single-cask expressions, offering enthusiasts a truly unique experience with each bottle.
