Lochlea Sowing Edition – First Crop represents the inaugural release in Lochlea Distillery’s seasonal whisky series, celebrating the agricultural heritage of the historic Ayrshire farm where national poet Robert Burns once lived and worked.
Production Method
- Raw materials: Locally grown barley harvested from Lochlea’s own fields in Ayrshire, Scotland, connecting the whisky directly to its terroir
- Distillation process: Carefully distilled in copper pot stills under the watchful eye of distillery manager John Campbell, formerly of Laphroaig
- Maturation: Matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon casks, allowing the spirit to develop its distinctive character while maintaining the integrity of the barley
- Special techniques: Field-to-bottle production with complete oversight of the process from sowing the barley to bottling the whisky
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Fresh orchard fruits, honey, vanilla custard, and gentle spices with hints of toasted cereal
