Introduction
Lochlea First Release marks the inaugural whisky from this independent Ayrshire farm distillery, set on the historic land where Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns lived and worked from 1777 to 1784.
Production Method
- Raw materials: Scottish-grown barley harvested directly from Lochlea’s own farm fields, with water sourced from the distillery’s own natural water source
- Distillation process: Carefully controlled small-batch distillation in copper pot stills designed specifically for Lochlea’s desired flavor profile
- Maturation: A carefully selected combination of 1st Fill Bourbon barrels and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks
- Special techniques: Non-chill filtered and bottled at natural color to preserve maximum flavor complexity and authenticity
